Man-of-Steel-PosterThis summer, we heard the brilliant announcement that Warner Bros. were finally pushing ahead with their long-awaited Justice League film, which is set to bring the DC equivalent of Marvel’s The Avengers to the big screen in 2015.

Ever since, there’ve been plenty of questions, and not many answers. And one of those biggest questions surrounds one of the best-known superheroes of all time, Superman.

Zack Snyder’s upcoming Man of Steel will be setting the box office alight in Summer 2013, bringing a highly anticipated new version of Superman to theatres as one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

One of the main things we’ve all been wondering is whether or not Snyder’s version of the caped hero will be the same as the one in the studio’s upcoming Justice League film. Superman is expected to be a part of the Justice League roster, alongside Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, the Flash, and the Martian Manhunter.

Speaking to the NY Post, Snyder was reluctant to give away too many details, but it certainly sounds like his Superman is likely to be the same as that of the Justice League movie:

““I don’t know how ‘Justice League’ is going to be handled. Honestly, I don’t,” Snyder says. “But ‘The Man of Steel’ exists, and Superman is in it. I don’t know how you’d move forward without acknowledging that.”

When asked whether he had conversations with the studio about integrating “Man of Steel” into a larger superhero universe, Snyder treads carefully.

“Um, how can I answer that?” he wonders. “I can’t really say anything to that, because that’s a big spoiler. I will say, yeah, they trust me to keep them on course.””

Henry Cavill, who is donning the cape in the lead for Snyder’s Man of Steel, has signed on for a three-picture deal with Warner Bros., and it will be very interesting to see how those three pictures take shape – Are we looking at a trilogy? Or will one of those three be a (hopefully leading) role in the upcoming Justice League film?

For now, we still don’t have anything official or concrete to go on, and will have to keep speculating – quite likely, for months to come.

We do know that a full-length trailer for Man of Steel is set to be attached to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and we can’t wait to see it when it hits. Smart money says Man of Steel is going to be one of the best films of next year, by a long shot.

Man of Steel will be released in 3D and IMAX theatres on 14th June, 2013, and if all goes to plan, we’ll be seeing the Justice League film in Summer 2015. Could there be enough time to slot another film in between them? One can only hope.
