The SapphiresFrom The IT Crowd to Hollywood stardom, it’s been somewhat of a whirlwind couple of years for Irish actor Chris O’Dowd, and he seems to have topped it all off with festival favourite The Sapphires – and we caught up with the leading man ahead of the film’s November 7 release.

With starring roles in Bridesmaids and Friends with Kids, O’Dowd has this time opted to take on a slightly more dramatic role, as he plays Dave, a hapless talent scout who discovers four young Aboriginal relatives who form the group The Sapphires, and head to Vietnam to entertain the US troops.

O’Dowd discusses with us his rise to worldwide fame, and what this past year  – which has also seen him get married to Dawn Porter – has meant to him, and the joy in working on such a jovial set for a film he is extremely proud to have been a part of.
