Red Dawn PosterDue out in the US next Wednesday, just in time for Thanksgiving, the upcoming Red Dawn remake is set to be a solid action alternative in the midst of the awards season in which dramas are so heavily favoured.

If you’ve been craving a bit of explosions and gunfire, then look no further.

We caught a new clip and two TV spots for the film last week, and now the latest poster has surfaced online, complete with the expected sense of patriotism when it comes to a story like this.

“A city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom.”

Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Brett Cullen, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan lead the cast, with long-time stunt co-ordinator Dan Bradley (the Bourne films, Three Kings) making his directorial debut from a script by Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia) and Jeremy Passmore (Special).

Red Dawn will be released in US theatres next Wednesday, 21st November, in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. Still no word yet on when it will be arriving here in the UK, but here’s to hoping that we’ll be seeing it early in the New Year. For now, here’s the latest poster, which you can click through to enlarge.
