Need for SpeedImogen Poots (28 Weeks Later) has landed the lead female role in Need for Speed.

The actress, who has been rising up the ranks in recent years with roles in V for Vendetta and Fright Night, will star opposite Aaron Paul (Mission: Impossible III) in DreamWorks’ big-screen adaptation of the popular Electronic Arts game.

The film, which centers on a rising star stock car racer whose father has bet the farm on her winning, is said to be “extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise”.

Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is attached to direct from a screenplay penned by George Gatins, which is scheduled to be released on Feb. 7, 2014.

Imogen Poots will next be seen in A Late Quartet, opposite Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christopher Walken and Catherine Keener, while Paul can be seen in the hit AMC crime drama Breaking Bad.
