Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx in White House DownRoland Emmerich (Independence Day) returns to helm another big-scale action blockbuster in White House Down, which is set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of next summer.

Starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, and Maggie Gyllenhaal as a rather brilliant leading trio, we got our first low-res look at the leads earlier in the week in image-scan form, and now we’ve got the first seven hi-res images, looking more than a little bit awesome.

The film sees Tatum starring as John Cale, an aspiring Secret Service agent, wind up protecting the Commander-in-Chief (Foxx) when the White House is invaded by a paramilitary group.

Gyllenhaal stars as the Secret Service boss who interviews Tatum, who also has a confidential connection to his past.

Emmerich is directing from a script by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man), with James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Jason Clarke, Jake Weber, Lance Reddick, and Joey King completing the cast nicely.

White House Down will be landing in US theatres on 28th June, 2013, before arriving slightly later in the UK on 6th September. I can’t wait. This looks awesome, and here’s to hoping we’ll have the trailer to cement that soon. For now, here are the great first official images, which you can click through to enlarge.
