Brad Pitt in World War ZLed by Brad Pitt, World War Z is set to be one of the biggest films of next year, bringing Pitt to the big screen in a pre-apocalyptic blockbuster alongside an army of zombies. In short: A guaranteed success story.

The trailer is due to hit the shores of the Internet at midnight tonight (7 p.m. ET), and after a brilliant sneak peek earlier in the week, followed by the first teaser poster, we’ve got our first official image of Pitt ahead of tonight’s debut, courtesy of the film’s official Facebook.

“The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. Enos plays Gerry’s wife Karen Lane; Kertesz is his comrade in arms, Segen.”

Starring alongside Pitt will be Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Lucy Aharish, Matthew Fox, Bryan Cranston, and David Morse, making for a strong cast.

Marc Forster (Stranger than Fiction, Machine Gun Preacher) is at the helm, directing from a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan (The Kingdom), with Drew Goddard (Cloverfield) hired to pen the re-writes for the extended re-shoots.

World War Z will be hitting the big screen in the UK and US on 21st June, 2013, which really can’t come fast enough. This is shaping up to be one of the best films of next year, and I can’t wait to see the trailer when it lands tonight. Be sure to come back when it hits. For now, here’s the first official look at Pitt in the lead, which you can click to enlarge.
