The-Muppets-SequelChristoph Waltz is in advanced talks to star in Walt Disney Pictures’ sequel to The Muppets.

Waltz, who was last seen in Roman Polanski’s Carnage, is set to play an Interpol inspector in the follow-up to last years runaway success.

The film, which will certainly feature Kermit and co. along with a slew of familiar celebrity faces travelling across Europe, will be directed by returnee James Bobin, who has once more penned the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller.

The Muppets, the first Muppets theatrical release in over twelve years, was released late last year to rave reviews, and has since grossed an estimated 0M at the worldwide box office.

Production on The Muppets sequel is expected to commence early next year.

Waltz, meanwhile, will next be seen in Quentin Tarantino’s western Django Unchained, due for release on January 18, 2013.
